This tutorial will show you how zip and unzip files with Winzip.

First, download Winzip.

Part I: Zipping

Select a file or a series of files you want to zip. Right click, select Winzip, and select Add to Zip file.

A new window will pop up. Under Adding to archive:, enter the name of your zip file. Then, click add.

If you want to add more files, drag them into the zip file. This is optional, but you might want to protect your zip files with a password. If you wish, click password and enter your password. Mask password if you want it to show asterisks rather than the word. When you let people download the file, it is linked like a regular link. <a href="file.zip">your file</a>

Part II: Unzipping

When you download, the computer might ask you where to save the zip file. Find the location where you saved your file, right click, select Winzip, select Extract to.

Specify your location in the new window that pops up.

If the Winzip window pops up after you download the file, select extract.

A new window will pop up. Select a location for the unzipped files. Then, click extract. Go to the location you just specified, and open the files.

Winzip is useful for grouping multiple files. Visitors can download one zip file rather than many individual files.
