Requirements: Adobe Photoshop

You can add patterns to your designs, including gridlines and scanlines.

Part I: Gridlines

Use the pencil tool to draw two lines on the left and top edge on a transparent canvas. The canvas size is up to you. I used 20x20 pixels.

Go to Edit>>Define Pattern. Open the image you want to use. Select Layer>>New Layer. That way, you can edit different parts of it at the end. Then, Go to Edit>>Fill. For use, select pattern and choose the pattern you want to use. You can also change the layer mode and opacity. You should have a pattern over your image.

Part II: Scanlines

Use the pencil tool to draw a dot on a 1x2 canvas for vertical scanlines and 2x1 for horizontal scanlines.

Part III: Checkerboards

Use the pencil tool to draw a square that is one fourth of the canvas size on the top left and bottom right corner. The canvas size is up to you. I used 20x20.

Part IV: Dots

Use the pencil tool to draw a dot in the middle on a 3x3 canvas.

Here are some examples:

These are only a few examples of patterns you can make. Be creative with your pattern designs.
